Dry Basements UK is a UK basement waterproofing and damp-proofing service operating in Northern England. Contact: hello@drybasements.uk · 0800 061 4203.
We design and install basement waterproofing systems (cavity drain membrane, sump pumps, perimeter drainage) and condensation control systems (PIV units, extractor systems). We survey properties, quote in writing, complete the work, and back it with a written warranty.
Surveys are free and carry no obligation. Our quote is valid for 30 days from the date issued. The quote is based on what we see and what you tell us about the property — if we discover materially different conditions once work begins (hidden defects, structural issues, undisclosed previous treatments), we'll pause and re-quote in writing before continuing.
To book a job we ask for a deposit (typically 25% of the quoted total) which secures your slot in our schedule and covers materials we order specifically for your job. The balance is split between a milestone payment when work starts and a final payment on completion. Exact split is shown on your quote.
Quotes are inclusive of materials, labour, and disposal of removed materials. Quotes are exclusive of VAT unless we tell you otherwise in writing. Prices in any advert, magnet, or website tool are estimates — your actual price comes from a survey-based written quote.
We back installed basement waterproofing systems with a 10-year written warranty against system failure under normal use. The warranty covers the system we installed; it does not cover damage from third-party works, structural movement of the building, blockage of pumps by debris from outside the system, or failure of mains power supplied to the pump. Warranty claims must be made in writing within 30 days of noticing the issue.
For sump-pump systems to remain warrantied, we ask that you keep the pump powered, do not place anything inside the sump chamber, and have us service the pump annually. We'll remind you when service is due. Annual service is charged separately and is not part of the install price.
You agree to give us safe and reasonable access to the work area for the duration of the job, including a power supply we can use. You agree to disclose any known structural issues, previous waterproofing or damp-proofing works, hidden services (gas, water, electrical), and any restrictions imposed by listed-building consent or party-wall agreements. If we have to stop work because of an undisclosed condition, you cover any reasonable costs we've incurred up to that point.
You can cancel any time before work starts. If you cancel after we've ordered materials specifically for your job, the deposit covers our cost; we don't charge more than that. If you change scope mid-project (additional rooms, upgraded pump, extra drainage), we'll quote the change in writing before doing any extra work. No surprise invoices.
If we have to cancel — illness, supplier failure, conditions beyond our control — we refund any payments you've made for work not yet done, in full, within 14 days.
Payment is by bank transfer (preferred), debit/credit card, or cheque. Final balance is due within 7 days of practical completion. Late payments accrue statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. We don't enforce this on first-time domestic customers without a reminder.
We carry Public Liability insurance (£5m) and Employers' Liability insurance. Certificates available on request before work begins.
If we cause you a problem, our liability to you is capped at the amount you've paid us for the service concerned. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses — missed rental income, alternative accommodation costs, business interruption — except where the law says liability cannot be limited (fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, statutory rights under UK consumer law).
If you're unhappy with the work, please tell us first — email hello@drybasements.uk or call 0800 061 4203. We aim to respond within one working day and to resolve complaints within 14 days. If we can't resolve it, you have the right to seek alternative dispute resolution or to pursue the matter through the courts.
We handle your contact details and survey information per UK GDPR. Full detail at /privacy. We don't sell your data, ever.
If we update these terms, the changes apply to work booked after the update date. Existing projects run under the terms that were live when you paid your deposit.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
